Job Description

AFRY X are looking for students who want to do their master's thesis with us. For this project we see that you can work individually or in pairs. You will be located at our office in Nordstan, Gothenburg and carry out the project on your own initiative with the help of a supervisor from our data science team. 

Note that we have two different projects out and you are welcome to apply to both of them and we will see which one suits you the most. 

Filtering unwanted anomalies in long-term noise measurements
Long-running measurements of industrial noise pollution levels in the proximity of residential areas is a common task for acoustic engineers at Efterklang. These measurements are affected by surrounding sounds, including barking dogs, screaming children, passing cars and birdsong. Removing these disturbances is time-consuming, since each anomaly is traditionally identified by a subjective listening method. A model that can identify and classify these anomalies automatically will save Efterklang’s engineers a lot of time - time that can be better spent on adopting appropriate measures and designing efficient noise reduction solutions.

Qualifications

We expect you to be familiar with programming in Python. You should also be familiar with common data processing and analysis frameworks such as Pandas and Scikit-learn.
If you have any previous experience or interest within sound or acoustics it is a plus.
Git will be used for version control, so previous experience with that may also be helpful.

Spring 2023. Specific starting date to be discussed.

Compensation
You will receive financial compensation after completed project. 

Location
You will be located at our office in Nordstan - Gothenburg. This can be combined with remote work.
